Attach the Expert Advisor to the desired chart. After attaching the advisor to the chart, you will get the Window with Advisor’s Parameters. Select the COMMON tab and follow the diagram below. It should look identical.
Also, at the main menu (top left of Trading Platform), click on [Tools] and [Options]. Click on the [Expert Advisors] button. Make sure the set up looks like this below.
Then click “OK” to run the advisor! If you set the advisor correctly, you will see his smiling face in the top right corner of the Chart window. That means that the advisor is working and monitoring the market now.
A chart with a frowning face means that the Expert Advisor is attached however live trading permissions are locked. Please review this page again and make sure your platform setup is identical to the diagrams shown above.
Now that we have setup the Platform and Expert Advisor correctly for automated trading, we will need to be patient. Let's assume the Expert Advisor is on a 4 Hour Chart, we will have to wait for the 4 hours for the Expert Advisor to begin. It will only look at snapshots of the market during these periods before opening a position (or every four hours). After a position is opened (long or short) however, it will constantly monitor its position at every tick looking to make a profit or close a loss.
